If your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer or if the dealer goes bust, you win. An initial hand of an Ace and a 10 is called a natural blackjack, and is an automatic winning hand. The only way you can’t win with this hand is if the dealer also gets a natural blackjack.
In most blackjack games, winnings are paid out 1:1, meaning you get your stake back plus the same amount you bet. If you place a £5 bet on a hand of blackjack and you win, you’d get £10 back (your £5 stake and another £5 of winnings).

The card values are simple to understand in blackjack. It works like this:
